The importance of Family

Family is very important. Sometimes family members can drive us nuts but when something happens it brings everyone together and it makes the nutty things so trivial. I hope my mom and her husband and my family and my brother can all get together and have some fun times. It seems like we have too many bad times. Life passes us too fast. We need to enjoy everyday. We need to make sure that every family member knows how much we love them. We need to show them. We need to give them hugs and say I love you everyday. Sometimes one person might have to make the first move but what a person that is to be able to do that and see the big picture.
I hope that my family can get together with Mike's family on a more regular basis too. We need to have some fun. We have kind of become distant and gone in different directions. We all might think we are too busy but we really aren't. Family should be a priority. I hope this year 2009 we can all make an effort to make sure we get together. We all need to make an effort this year to make sure everyone knows how much we love them. We can show them. It's okay to show affection. It's our family!

1st Day of 2009

It would be so normal to focus on the negativity of the beginning of the Elkington new year of 2009 but I am not going to start the year off that way.

My mother in law went to the ER on New Years Eve. She had fallen and had been down for several hours. She went by ambulance. They admitted her early this morning. They ran alot of tests. They think she had a heart attack and they are worried about how much damage was done to her heart. She is very worried and scared. We are all worried but we are trying not to let her see it. Me, Mike and the best kids ever watched Mama Mia with my mother in law. After it was over my mother in law thought she could still hear the music. :) There are going to be alot of decisions being made as a family coming up over the next couple of weeks or days. It is going to be hard. I hope that we can all treat each other with respect and love and come to the right decision for everyone. It is important that my mother in law is given respect for her wishes. Maybe we will get closer as a big family. We haven't been getting together much the past few years but that will probably change this year. Which is a good thing. Family is one of the most important things in the world. We all need to include Heavenly Father in this. We all need to pray and have faith that everything is going to be ok. My mother in law had a blessing tonight. It was a good blessing. I think some of the words the Elder spoke helped our family be less stressed and for emotions to calm down some. I love my family very much. Sometimes it's easy to forget how much you love your family until something happens and then you realize all the stupid things that don't matter.
